Always be sure to call the office to alert them of your orthodontic problem.
Provided below are some simple solutions to help you stay comfortable.
Loose or Broken Bracket:
If the bracket is still attached to the wire, leave it in place.
- If it is uncomfortable, place wax on it until you are able to get into the office.
- If the bracket is off completely, save it (a baggie works well) and bring it with you to your appointment.
Loose or Poking Wire
If the wire is out of the bracket tubes, try placing it back into the tube with clean tweezers.
- If the wire is sticking out, try pushing on it with a pencil eraser or spoon.
If there is any discomfort, try placing wax over it and call the office.
- Most orthodontic soreness can be treated with warm salt-water rinses and or Tylenol/Advil.
